Abstract
U životinja pod brigom čovjeka ili u divljini može doći do ozljeda, bolesti ili komplikacija koje mogu dovesti do hitnih intervencija. Hitne intervencije u zdravstvenoj zaštiti životinja su sve one intervencije koje se izvršavaju kako domaća životinja ne bi uginula ili bila izložena velikoj agoniji koja bi utjecala na njezino zdravstveno stanje. Slučajevi kada su potrebne takve intervencije su na primjer kolike kod konja, nadam kor krava ili trovanja kod psa. Neke hitne intervencije primjenjive su za sve životinje, a bez pomoći životinje bi uginule u kratkom periodu. Primjeri su intervencije prilikom gušenja, dehidracija, koja može biti simptom bolesti ili nemogućnosti pristupa vodi, krvarenja, koja su posljedica namjerne ili slučajne povrede, alergijske reakcije kao odgovor životinje na uneseni alergen, te strujni udar, gdje je svaka sekunda bitna.
Abstract (english)
In animals both under the care of man or in the wild, injuries, illnesses or complications may result in emergency interventions. Emergency interventions in animal health care are all interventions that are preformed so that domestic animals do not die or be exposed to a great agony that would negatively affect their health. Cases where such interventions are needed are, for example, stomach cramps in horses, tympania ruminis in cows, or poisonings in dogs. Some emergency interventions are applicable to all animals, and often without the help provided for an animal, they would die in a short period of time. Examples are interventions after choking, dehydration, which may be a symptom of a disease or an inability to access water, bleeding resulting from intentional or accidental injury, allergic reactions in response to the injected animal, and electric shock where each second is important.
