Abstract
Polifenoli su sekundarni biljni metaboliti. Tijekom dosadašnjih istraživanja potvrđena su njihova antioksidativna svojstva. U posljednje vrijeme istraživanja ukazuju da polifenoli mogu imati i prooksidativna svojstva. Kao antioksidansi povoljno utječu na zdravlje životinja, minimiziraju utjecaj oksidativnog stresa, imaju protuupalna, imunomodulatorna te antimutagena svojstva. Antioksidativna svojstva polifenolnih spojeva mogu se izravno koristiti u prehrani životinja. Mogu se primijeniti kao konzervansi u krmnim smjesama za zaštitu životinja od negativnih posljedica oksidacije sastojaka hrane. Karakterizira ih niska bioraspoloživost, imaju baktericidna i bakteriostatska svojstva. Minimiziraju adheziju patogenih bakterija te inhibiraju napredovanje infekcija u probavnom traktu. Potiču rast korisne mikrobiote. Cilj ovog rada bio je prezentirati dosadašnje studije o utjecaju polifenolnih aditiva u prehrani monogastričnih životinja te njihovom utjecaju na rast, zdravlje i kvalitetu životinjskih proizvoda.
Abstract (english)
Polyphenols are secondary plant metabolites. During previous researches their antioxidant properties have been confirmed. Latest researches indicate that polyphenols can have prooxidative properties. As antioxidants, they have a beneficial effect on animal health, minimize the impact of oxidative stress, they have anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and anti-mutagenic properties. The antioxidant properties of polyphenolic compounds can be used directly in animal nutrition. They can be used as preservatives in compound feeds to protect animals from the negative effects of oxidation of food ingredients. They are characterized by low bioavailability, have bactericidal and bacteriostatic properties. They minimize the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria and inhibit the progression of infections in the digestive tract. They stimulate the growth of beneficial microbiota. The aim of this paper was to present data from various studies of the impact of polyphenolic additives in the diet of monogastric animals and their impact on the growth, health and quality of animal products.
