Abstract
Sumporovodik je bezbojan plin s jakim mirisom te se dugo smatralo da je toksičan za biljke zbog toga što su prva istraživanja u kojima su se koristile visoke doze ovog plina, pokazala da ima inhibitorni efekt na djelovanje enzima respiratornog lanca, citokrom c-oksidazu. Međutim, danas je dokazano da niske doze imaju pozitivan učinak na širok spektar molekularnih mehanizama uključenih u odgovor na različite tipove stresa. Danas se kod ljudi ali i biljaka, sumporovodik smatra vrlo važnom signalnom molekulom koja u biljnim stanicama ima višestruku funkciju. U ovome radu je prikazana relevantna literatura novijeg datuma koja se bavi proučavanjem njegove uloge i funkcije u otpornosti biljaka na solni stres, stres uzrokovan prisustvom teških metala, niske ili visoke temperature, suše te u otpornosti na UV-B zračenje, fungalne infekcije i hipoksiju. Pošto sumporovodik pomaže biljkama u lakšem prevladavanju stresa uz puno manje štetne posljedice za kvalitetu i kvantitetu poljoprivrednog prinosa, daljnja istraživanja koja se bave ovom problematikom su od velikog značaja.
Abstract (english)
Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless gas with a strong odorand for a long time it has considered to be toxic to plants because the first studies using high doses of this gas showed an inhibitory effect on the cytochrome c –oxidase, enzyme of respiratory chain. However, it has been shown that low doses have a positive effect on a wide range of molecular mechanisms involved in responding to different types of stress. Today, in humans and plants, hydrogen sulfide is considered as a very important signaling molecule that has multiple functions in cells. This paper presents an overview of relevant and recent literature dealing with its role and function in plant resistance to salt stress, stress caused by the presence of heavy metals, low or high temperature, drought, UV-B resistance, fungal infections and hypoxia. Since hydrogen sulfide helps plants to over come stress easier, with far less harmful consequences for the quality and quantity of agricultural yield, further research on this is sueis of great importance.
