Abstract
Od početka procesa domestikacije do nastanka suvremenih i lokalnih pasmina i hibrida, provedena su mnoštva istraživanja i selekcijski procesi. To dokazuje promjena životinjskih vrsta pod utjecajem selekcije. Prirodnom selekcijom pod utjecajem prirodnih zakonitosti, koje okolina potiče na odabir jedinki koje se uspjevaju prilagoditi životnoj sredini. Metode umjetne selekcije domaćih životinja pod kontrolom su čovjeka-uzgajivača. U tom smislu selekcija je uzgojni postupak kojim uzgajivač promišljeno odabire muške i ženske roditelje za stvaranje budućih generacija. Za razliku od prirodne selekcije, uzgajivač u populacijama domaćih životinja planskim odabirom muških i ženskih životinja za daljnju reprodukciju utječe na promjenu frekvencija gena, s posebnim naglaskom na posljednjih 10 godina, od kako se primjenjuje genomska selekcija. Ovaj pristup umjesto podataka o pedigreu koristi podatke o genomskim markerima (SNP markeri) odnosno podatke o utjecaju gena na svojstva od interesa, koji je dodatno unaprijedio i povećao rast proizvodnje s jedne strane, te dodatno umanjio parametre genetske raznolikosti s druge strane. Kao rezultat svih ovih pristupa, danas je u svijetu poznato nekoliko tisuća pasmina domaćih životinja, koje je s obzirom na negativan utjecaj čovjeka na ekosustav i klimatske promjene, neophodno očuvati.
Abstract (english)
From the beginning of the domestication process until today and creation of contemporary breeds and hybrids, there have been many researches about the selection processes and its effects. This is observable by the phenotypic change in animal species under the influence of artificial selection, and also the natural selection which encourages the selection of individuals who are able to better adapt to their environments. The methods of artificial selection of domestic animals are under the control of breeders. In that sense, selection is a breeding process in which the breeder uses carefully selected male and female parents for the future generations. Unlike natural selection, the breeder influences the gene frequencies in domestic animal populations using planned selection, especially in the last 10 years, since the genomic selection has been applied. This approach, unlike the selection based on pedigree, utilizes data on genomic markers (SNP markers) i.e. with the specific effects on the traits of interest, which further advanced the performance and growth on one hand, and further reduced the genetic diversity on the other. As a result of all these processes, several thousand breeds of domestic animals exist today, which considering the negative influence of humans on the eco-system and climate change, need to be preserved.
