The subject of this Master’s thesis is the analysis of the implementation of plant protection within the municipality of Žepče in 2022, where the survey needs to be conducted. Plant protection implies the timely and optimal application of all preventive and curative measures for the grower to protect his crop, vineyard, or orchard from the numerous pests, diseases, and weeds that jeopardize it. He needs to be familiar with the fundamentals of the pests’ biology, way of life and optimal conditions for disease development as well as plant phenophases to implement the protection properly. This is necessary for more successful implementation of preventive and, if needed, curative measures. One also needs to know the bases of technical terminology in plant protection (waiting period, tolerance, concentration, dosage, etc.) Due to the survey, which included 100 people, we found out that 80% of subjects practice agriculture, 95% of them know what pesticides are, and 69% use them. The most frequently used pesticide is an insecticide, and it’s been used by 36%. The interesting information we discovered was that 59% of surveyed people know that there is a law about plant protection which is quite discouraging, considering that 64% don’t uphold the law. Personal protective equipment that subjects use the most are a protective mask, gloves and googles, whereas only 45% people use full PPE. Most of them (79%) stated that they don’t follow the instructions on the product labelling. Most of them said that they know what the waiting period and tolerance are as well as dosage and concentration. Most subjects aren’t familiar with the ways of waste management and disposal of used packages. The largest number of subjects stated that they throw protection products’ packaging in municipal waste containers (55%), 12% of the respondents take the plant protection products packaging to the collection center and 2% use the incineration method. 95% of subjects buy plant protection products in agricultural pharmacies. Apart from education and consultation during the mere shopping (80%), the subjects are educated about plant protection through various sources (77%).
