Organic agriculture represents a special system of sustainable management in agriculture that includes the breeding of animals and the production of plants, food, raw materials, natural fibers, and the processing of basic products. In the last thirty years, the share of organic agricultural land in Europe has significantly increased and now amounts to about 3 million hectares. The main reason for this is the wide range of measures undertaken by the state administrations of the European Union countries, which offer oppourtunities for intensively engaging in this method of agricultural production. This is a good and necessary prerequisite for organic pig breeding. Our country meets all the conditions for ecologically acceptable pig farming. It has pastures of exceptional quality, a protected and clean environment, favorable climatic conditions and a geographical position that increases the interest in breeding and production of pigs. According to many factors, the transition to an organic way of pig farming represents a reliable replacement for the deeply rooted conventional way of raising pigs. Conventional pig farming leaves numerous negative consequences on the environment, and for this reason it is important to develop organic pig production as much as possible. It is precisely for this reason that the state's goal should be to encourage local organic pig producers to keep pace and be competitive with the developed countries of the European Union. For organic pig breeding, it is necessary to know the production technology, i.e. to know which genotypes of pigs to use in this production, and to know the general principles of organic production (keeping, feeding, health care), which was the aim of this thesis.
