Abstract
Emisija stakleničkih plinova među kojima je i emisija metana (CH4) u govedarskoj proizvodnji ima loš utjecaj na okoliš, te se proizvodnja stakleničkih plinova želi svesti na minimum. Aktivnost i hranidbeno ponašanje goveda povezano je s učinkovitošću hranidbe i emisije metana. Goveda koja imaju veću dnevnu aktivnost odnosno veći broj koraka imaju lošiju hranidbenu učinkovitost. Životinje s boljom hranidbenom učinkovitošću konzumiraju značajno manje suhe tvari, imaju veću konverziju i prosječni prirast te proizvode značajno manje metana u odnosu na grla koja imaju lošiju hranidbenu učinkovitost. Bolja učinkovitost hranidbe se povećava s duljim vremenom hranjenja (većim brojem odlazaka do hranidbenog stola), a emisija CH4 se smanjuje sa češćim obrocima. Dominantni bikovi jedu češće i dulje, a smanjenje konkurencije (sukoba) na hranidbenom stolu poboljšava hranidbenu učinkovitost i emisiju metana. Odabir mirnijih i hranidbeno učinkovitijih goveda smanjilo bi aktivnost i povećao unos suhe tvari, poboljšao konverziju a sukladno tome i smanjio emisiju metana.
Abstract (english)
The emission of greenhouse gases, including the methane emission (CH4) in cattle production has a bad impact on the environment, and the production of greenhouse gases should be minimized. Activity and feeding behavior of cattle is related to feeding efficiency and methane emission. Cattle that have a higher daily activity, i.e. a higher number of steps, have a worse feeding efficiency. Animals with better feed efficiency consume significantly less dry matter, have higher conversion and average daily gain, and produce significantly less methane compared to those with worse feed efficiency. Better feeding efficiency increases with longer feeding time (more visiting to the feeder), and CH4 emissions decrease with more frequent feedings. Dominant bulls eat more often and for longer, and reducing competition (conflict) on the feeding area improves feeding efficiency and methane emissions. Selection of calmer and more nutritionally efficient cattle would reduce activity and increase dry matter intake, improve conversion and, accordingly, reduce methane emissions.
