Abstract
Pšenica sudjeluje s oko petinom kalorija u ukupnom ljudskom unosu hrane. Dormantnost (mirovanje) je urođena karakteristika sjemena koja definira uvjete okoline u kojima je sjeme sposobno klijati. Ono je genetski određeno, ali s bitnim utjecajem okoline koji je djelomično posredovan biljnim hormonima apscisinskom kiselinom i gibberelinima. Jedan od najvažnijih poremećaja koji utječu na kvalitetu prinosa žitarica, uključujući pšenicu, je PHS. Kada sjeme proklija na samoj biljci, dolazi do smanjenja prinosa i što je još važnije, smanjenja kvalitete žitarica. Osim toga, sjeme koje proklija na polju često je osjetljivo na bolesti i štetočine, što dodatno komplicira situaciju. Ključno za suočavanje s problemom PHS-a je razumijevanje mehanizama koji reguliraju dormantnost i klijavost sjemena. Dormantnost sjemena, odnosno njegova nespremnost za klijanje u određenim uvjetima, kontrolira se različitim čimbenicima. To uključuje fitohormone poput abscisinske kiseline (ABA) i giberelina (GA), kao i uvjete temperature i vlage tijekom razvoja sjemena sve do trenutka žetve. Ovi faktori igraju ključnu ulogu u određivanju hoće li sjeme ostati dormantno ili će početi klijati.
Abstract (english)
Wheat contributes to about one-fifth of the total human food calorie intake. Dormancy is an innate characteristic of seeds that defines the environmental conditions in which the seed is capable of germination. It is genetically determined but influenced significantly by the environment, partially mediated by plant hormones such as abscisic acid and gibberellins. One of the most significant disorders affecting the quality of cereal crops, including wheat, is Pre-Harvest Sprouting (PHS). When seeds sprout on the plant itself, it leads to reduced yields and, more importantly, a decrease in grain quality. Additionally, seeds that sprout in the field are often vulnerable to diseases and pests, further complicating the situation. Key to addressing the issue of PHS is understanding the mechanisms that regulate seed dormancy and germination. Seed dormancy, or its unwillingness to germinate under certain conditions, is controlled by various factors. This includes phytohormones like abscisic acid (ABA) and gibberellins (GA), as well as temperature and moisture conditions during seed development up to the harvest moment. These factors play a crucial role in determining whether the seed will remain dormant or initiate germination.
