Abstract (english)	In the Republic of Croatia, 4 autochthonous or original poultry breeds are recognized: Croatian hen, Posavska kukmasta hen, Križevačka kukmica, and Zagorski puran. The paper describes the importance of autochthonous poultry breeds in the Republic of Croatia, focusing on their phenotypic and production characteristics.
