Abstract
Vertikalno vrtlarenje je uzgoj biljaka u vertikalnom položaju. Moderna ideja vertikalnog vrta temeljena je na činjenici da se na maloj površini uzgaja veći broj biljaka nego u klasičnom horizontalnom obliku, obzirom na brojnost katova. Trend porasta broja stanovništva zahtijeva i povećanu proizvodnju hrane po jedinici površine, u što se uklapa ideja vertikalnih vrtova. Ovakav vid proizvodnje nalikuje hidroponskom uzgoju povrća i cvijeća i vrlo lako se uklapa u vizuru urbanih gradskih sredina. Proizvodnja je održiva radi zatvorenog ciklusa proizvodnje, iskoristivosti energenata te visokog prinosa po jedinici površine. Sustavi za navodnjavanje korišteni u vertikalnim vrtovima jednaki su kao i kod hidroponskog uzgoja. Prikupljanje i recikliranje drenažne vode, upotreba vode za manje ribnjake ili ukrasne akvarije, robotizirano biranje plodova značajke su ovakve proizvodnje. Prema tome uzgoj u budućnosti moguć je samo uz poznavanje današnje hidroponske tehnologije. Vertikalni vrtovi pružaju lako pristupačnu hranu u urbanim sredinama sa smanjenim troškovima skladištenja, transporta i općenito troškova proizvodnje.
Abstract (english)
Vertical gardening is a plant production system where the plants rows are set up in vertical position. One of the main advantages in compare to conventional plant production is the reduction of garden space. Also the larger yield in a compact space which of great importance for urban areas as well as the increasing population trend. This production is very similar to hydroponic or areoponic. Sustainable production is based upon the recycling of raw materials, water as well as low-cost production. Vertical gardening is especially significant for urban areas. It provides large amount of fresh vegetables, fruits and fish near the end users. Furthermore, vertical gardening reduces cost of transport, storage and overall the cost of production.
