Abstract	Cilj rada bio je utvrditi alelopatski utjecaj vodenih ekstrakata vrsta crne pomoćnice (Solanum nigrum L. emend. Miller) i bijeli kužnjak (Datura stramonium L.) na klijavost i rast klijanaca salate. Pokus je proveden u laboratorijskim uvjetima u Petrijevim zdjelicama s vodenim ekstraktima od suhe mase stabljike i lista u koncentraciji od 5%. Klijavost sjemena salate značajno je snižena sa svim ekstraktima, posebice s ekstraktom lista crne pomoćnice koji je klijavost smanjio za 99,1%. Značajno smanjenje duljine korijena i izdanka te svježe mase klijanaca salate zabilježeno je u svim tretmanima, posebice s vodenim ekstraktom ista crne pomoćnice koji je potpuno (100%) inhibirao mjerene parametre. Gledano prosječno, ekstrakti crne pomoćnice imali su veći negativni utjecaj od ekstrakata bijelog kužnjaka. Ekstrakti lista pokazali su veći negativni utjecaj samo na klijavost sjemena i svježu masu klijanaca.
Abstract (english)	The aim of the study was to determine the allelopathic effect of the water extract from black nightshade (Solanum nigrum L. emend. Miller) and the jimsonweed (Datura stramonium L.) on germination and growth of lettuce. The experiment was carried out under laboratory conditions in Petri dishes with extracts from dry stem and leaf biomass in concentrations of 5%. Germination of lettuce seeds was significantly lowered with all extracts, especially with the black nightshade leaf extract, which decreased germination by 99.1%. Significant decrease of root and shoot length and fresh weight of lettuce seedlings was recorded in all treatments, especially with the water extract of the black nightshade that completely (100%) inhibited the measured parameters. On average, black nightshade extracts had a greater negative impact compared to jimsonweed extracts. Extracts from leaves showed a greater negative effect only on seed germination and fresh weight of seedlings.
