Abstract
Kukuruz šećerac se po specifičnosti uzgoja i svojim svojstvima zrna razlikuje od običnog merkantilnog uzgoja te se zbog toga klasificira i kao povrtna kultura. Zrno je ukusno, sočno, visoke nutritivne vrijednosti, obogaćeno jednostavnim šećerima, vitaminima, proteinima i mineralnim tvarima. Koristi se za ljudsku ishranu u svježem stanju, kuhanom,konzerviranom te različitim oblicima prerade u prehrambenoj industriji. Kukuruz šećerac je nastao mutacijom zubana i trvdunca. SAD je najveći proizvođač kukuruza šećerca, dok Državni zavod za statistiku Republike Hrvatske o proizvodnji kukuruza šećerca ne vodi evidenciju o proizvodnji, zbog zastupljenijeg uzgoja merkantilnog kukuruza ( oko 30% oranica).
Abstract (english)
Sugar corn differs in its cultivation specificity and grain properties from ordinary mercantile cultivation, which is therefore also classified as a vegetable crop. The grain is tasty, juicy, of high nutritional value, enriched with simple sugars, vitamins, proteins and minerals. It is used for human consumption in fresh, cooked, canned and various forms of processing in the food industry. Sweet corn is formed by mutation of teeth and hardness. The USA is the largest producer of sweet corn, while the Central Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Croatia does not keep records on the production of sweet corn, due to the more represented cultivation of mercantile corn (about 30% of arable land).
