Abstract
Morski psi (Selachimorpha) pripadaju razredu hrskavičnjača (Chondrichthyes). Drevna su skupina životinja koja se pojavila prije oko 400 milijuna godina. Njihova raznolikost obuhvaća oko 500 vrsta raspoređnih u 106 rodova, 34 porodice i 8 redova. Morski psi žive u svim morima svijeta, a neke vrste i u slatkim vodama. Nalaze se na vrhu hranidbene mreže u morskim ekosustavima i imaju važnu ulogu u kontroli raznolikosti i veličini populacije plijena. Najviše ih ugrožava čovjek prekomjernih izlovom, a dodatno onečišćenje mora i kopnenih voda, zagrijavanje mora, degradacija i gubitak staništa. Prikazani su sistematski položaj, filogenija i klasifikacija morskih pasa, te opisane odabrane vrste: Isurus oxyrinchus, Lamna nasus, Carcharias taurus, Carcharodon carcharias, Cetorhinus maximus, Oxynotus centrina, Prionace glauca i Heptranchias perlo.
Abstract (english)
Sharks (Selachimorpha) belongs into class of cartilaginous fishes (Chondrichthyes). They are an ancient group of animals originated about 400 million years ago. Their diversity comprises about 500 species classified into 106 genera, 34 families and 8 orders. Sharks can be found in all seas around the world, and some species can live in freshwaters. They are positioned on the top of the food web in the marine ecosystems, with an important role in control of prey diversity and population size. The main threat for sharks are human activities by overfishing, beside sea and freshwater pollution, ocean warming, habitat loss due to degradation or destruction. Thesis presents systematic position, phylogeny and classification of Sharks, with description of the selected species: Isurus oxyrinchus, Lamna nasus, Carcharias taurus, Carcharodon carcharias, Cetorhinus maximus, Oxynotus centrina, Prionace glauca and Heptranchias perlo.
