Abstract
Cikorija (Cichorium intybus L.) je dvogodišnja biljka zeljastog rasta iz porodice glavočika (Asteraceae). Uzgaja je zbog korijena koji je jestiv, cvjetova i listova, a tijekom prve godine razvija korijen zadebljanog oblika i lisnu rozetu dok u drugoj godini dobiva stabljiku, listove, plod i cvijet. Uspravna drvenasta i dlakava stabljika dužine od 1 do 1,5 metara, uglastog oblika čini ju veoma prepoznatljivom. Osim toga može se upotrebljavati čak i u proizvodnji alkohola, pa je tako cikorija u ostalim zemljama poznata na način da se iz njenog svježeg korijena izlučuje inulin koji se kasnije koristi farmaceutske svrhe. Također, pojavom novih tehnologija celulozni sastojci iz korijena cikorije služe za proizvodnju različitih materijala koji su slični azbestu, iako glavna svrha proizvodnje cikorije i dalje je dobivanje ekstrakta koji služi kao dodatak kavi. Proizvodnja cikorije u svijetu polazi od površine oko 17 tisuća hektara i prosječnom godišnjom proizvodnjom od 650 tisuća tona. Vodeće zemlje u proizvodnji cikorije jesu Belgija, Francuska i JAR. Prinos po hektru varira te uvelike ovisi o tlu, vremenskim uvjetima i ostalim čimbenicima pa tako je najveći prinos ostvaren u Belgiji te čini oko 48 t/ha. Republika Hrvatska trenutno ima zasijano 170 hektara pod cikorijom, a nekakav prosječni prinos iznosi oko 20 tona po hektru.
Abstract (english)
Chicory (Cichorium intybus L.) is a two-year plant of green growth from the Oriental family (Asteraceae). It is cultivated because of its roots which are edible, flowers and leaves, and during the first year it develops the roots of thick shape and leaves rosettes, while in the second year it gets stems, leaves, fruit and flowers. An upright wooden and hairy stem 1 to 1.5 meters long, smooth shape makes it very recognizable. It can also be used in the production of alcohol, so chicory in other countries is known by secreting inulin which is later used for pharmaceutical purposes from its fresh root. Also, with the emergence of new technologies cellulose ingredients from chicory roots are used for the production of various materials similar to asbestos, although the main purpose of chicory production is still to obtain extract which serves as an addition to coffee. Chicory production in the world starts with an area of 17 thousand hectares and an average annual production of 650 thousand tonnes. The leading countries in chicory production are Belgium, France and JAR. Yield per hectare varies and depends greatly on soil, weather conditions and other factors, so the highest yield was achieved in Belgium, accounting for about 48 t/ha. The Republic of Croatia currently has a sown 170 hectares under chicory, and some average yield amounts to about 20 tons per hectare.
