These surveys were conducted within Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Banja Luka, Gradačac, Gračanica, Mostar, Široki Brijeg and Žepče. All obtained data relate to 2013. The surveys involved 202 people (23% women). Most of the participants had a high school education (46%). The age structure of the surveyed people revealed a predominant group of people between 31 and 55 - 66%. 91% of the surveyed people stated that they knew what the pesticides were. Most of them don’t use same pesticides very often (85%) Most of the participants asked for professional advice when buying pesticides and protective agents. 54% of users applied the pesticides before the first symptoms or appearance. Almost half of the surveyed people (45%) stated that they increased the dosage of the product if the first treatment had failed to show the desired effect. As far as the protective equipment is concerned, most people stated that they used a protective mask, gloves, and just 13 people said that they used the complete protective equipment. Most of the people stated that they obeyed the application procedure and the prescribed quantities supplied on the label of the product (88%). Most of the participants stated that they knew what the terms „waiting period“ and „tolerance period“ mean, as well as term „resistance“ and the term „phytotoxicity.“ Most of the participants stated that that bio-preparation are not used and offered for sale in sufficient quantities. Most of them saved the unused pesticides for the next season. Half of the surveyed people did not know how to dispose of the used packaging in a proper way. Most of them stated that they threw the product packaging to the communal waste (44%) and 11% of the participants took the packaging to the toxic waste disposal service (11%). 84% of people thought that the law regulations concerning the disposal of packaging are too mild and undefined. 89% of the surveyed people thought that pesticide market needs stricter regulations and more order and 88% of them expressed a need for supplementary education programmes concerning the use of pesticides.
