The Klaić family farm is located in Brod-Posavina County in Stari Perkovci, Vrpolje municipality, not far from the town of Đakovo and Slavonski Brod. In the beginning, when the father ran an agricultural farm, the farm numbered one sow and several fatteners for special needs. The family currently has 6 breeding sows, 4 gilts, boars, a large number of piglets and about 30 fatteners. Currently, there are 10 hectares of land available for growing cereals that are used exclusively to feed their own livestock. On the family farm there is a mill with a mixer that is intended exclusively for their own needs. The mixtures used to feed the pigs are mixed on the family farm with the addition of Lycra premix. The aim of this paper was to show how pigs are raised in the Klaić family farm. The first part of the paper will be about the production of animal feed obtained from own breeding as well as the processes of preparation for the process of food production. Then there will be the breed composition of sows that this farm contains. The central part of the paper will talk about feeding sows, the process of farrowing, the procedure before, during and after farrowing. At the very end it will be about feeding the pigs. The paper will also present the feeding testing that has been proven on a sample of three groups of pigs with the aim of examining the best feeding option. The results of this pilot study are presented in the chapter “Results and Discussion”.
