This paper describes the types of aloe and their medicinal properties and characteristics. The first part of the paper analyzes some of the species from the aloe genus, while the second part deals with the characteristics and medicinal properties of this well-known and widespread plant. Today, it is known that there are more than 500 species of this miraculous plant in the world, which has a number of medicinal properties. The use of aloe for medicinal purposes has been recorded for 2200 years. Pr. Kr. To date, various studies have been carried out on the medicinal properties of this plant and it has been proven that it helps with skin diseases, problems with checking, while the effects in patients with diabetes and other serious diseases are still being determined and investigated. Some types of aloe are also used in food, while the biggest use of this plant is in cosmetics. In addition to medicinal uses, aloes, with their bright flowers, dramatic shapes and ability to sustain low water conditions, are very popular ornamental plants. Although there are poisonous species and side effects from the use of aloe have been recorded, its medicinal properties and composition are unquestionable. Namely, some types of aloe contain as many as 75 active compounds such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes, fatty acids, sugar and other medicinal ingredients.
