The aim of this research was to show the differences in the yield components of autochthonous cultivars and/or local garlic ecotypes FAZOSGAR001 – Karanac, FA4ZOSGAR002 – Branjin Vrh, FAZOSGAR003 – Ilača, FAZOSGAR004 – Branjin vrh (Brnjevar) and cv. Slavonski ozimi from Slavonia and Baranja in order to determine their economic value. Also, all genotypes were morphologically described using the UPOV guideline for garlic description. The research was conducted during the 2022/2023 growing season at the Tenja Experimental Station and in the Laboratory for Vegetables, Floriculture, Medicinal and Aromatic Herbs of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek (FAZOS). After cultivation in the field, during which certain morphological characteristics were monitored in order to describe the mentioned genotypes, measurements of the yield components were carried out in laboratory conditions, i.e., bulb weight, clove weight and the number of cloves per bulb, and a cross section of the garlic bulb was also performed. Data on yield per unit area were obtained by calculation based on final plant density. Data analysis showed that all tested yield components and the yield itself were significantly influenced by the studied genotypes. The highest differences recorded were related to bulb and cloves fresh weight where highest values belonged to the local ecotype Karanac. At the same time, ecotype Karanac had the lowest number of cloves per bulb, which indicates a low reproduction index. Nevertheless, these types of garlic are very desirable as raw material for the food industry because the primary processing and cleaning is much simpler compared to ecotypes that have a large number of small garlics per bulb, which was the case with the cv. Slavonski ozimi and the Branjin Vrh ecotype.
