The degree essay presents the implementation of breeding and selection hunt of the red deer (Cervus elaphus L.) in the hunting ground „West Garjevica“ VII/15 managed by Hunting estate „Moslavina“. The executing of the hunt has been done by enforcing tough selection among the deer population in order to remove the unwanted deer specimens in the future breeding.The stags and elder deer are left to live and mate so they could transfer to their offspring the aimed qualities desired in the deer population. Therefore the royal stags, the deer with palmate antlers and the deer with massive antlers in general, are very desirable in the hunting ground. The rigorous hunt of male and female deer with negative breeding qualities provides the population with the majority of positive breeding qualities wanted in the population of deer. By this approach in the hunting ground „West Garjevica“ VII/15 the owner of hunting rights has managed to breed and hunt down several royal stags. In the hunting ground facilities of „West Garjevica“, there are trophy exhibits of red deer's antlers measured 261,81 CIC points - which hold the national record in size, three royal stags' antlers measured over 250 CIC points and four pairs of antlers measured over 240 CIC points. The trophies mentioned above are the greatest indicator of the successful management and the execution of breeding selection hunt. The conclusion of these results implicates the necessity of expert and professional game-warden service reinforced by the financial resources inevitable in support and execution of future plans
