The aim of this study was to determine the impact of the agronomic fortification of wheat with Zn on Zn content of different wheat varieties by examining the effectiveness of foliar application of different forms of Zn, and to determine whether the treatments with zinc impacts on reduction of cadmium in aboveground organs of wheat. Field experiment was conducted with three wheat varieties (Divana, Srpanjka, Simonida), in year 2011/2012, on the production field area near Banovci in Vukovar-Srijem County. Zinc sulphate (ZnSO4) and zinc in EDTA solution (Zn-EDTA) were used as fertilizers, with addition of adhesive (0,1 % Herbovit v/v) for foliar applications. Fertilizers were applied by treatments as follows: 1. control - without Zn application, 2. foliar application of ZnSO4, 3. foliar application of Zn-EDTA. The influence of treatments on yield components and agronomic properties was not found, but Zn concentration enhancement in grain was found in all treatments. Concentrations increased from 19,59 mg kg-1 in control to 41,36 mg kg-1 at foliar application of ZnSO4, and on 27,82 mg kg-1 at foliar application of Zn-EDTA. From these results it can be seen that considerably higher concentration of Zn in the grain was found in the treatment with ZnSO4 compared to Zn-EDTA. The removal of zinc by grain yield of wheat ranged from 144.07 g ha-1 without the application of zinc to 268.86 g ha-1 with the application of ZnSO4. There was a significantly lower concentration of Cd in above-ground organs of wheat after the treatments with Zn-EDTA compared with treatments without zinc and treatment with ZnSO4. Cadmium concentrations were reduced from an average 0,055 mg kg-1 in control at 0,016 mg kg-1 in the treatment with Zn-EDTA. The removal of cadmium by wheat yield was also significantly influenced by the form of the applied zinc and ranged from 0.446 g ha-1 without the application of zinc to 0,122 gha-1 with the application of Zn-EDTA.
