Abstract
Tulipa L. je ukrasna biljka iz porodice Liliaceae. Odlikuje se velikim gospodarskim, hortikulturalnim, estetskim, ekološkim, i taksonomskim interesom. Prvi tulipani u Europu su dospjeli iz Male Azije. Veliku pažnju privukla je nizozemska Tulipomanija 1637. godine, zbog čega je tulipan neslužbeno postao nacionalni cvijet Nizozemske. Nove vrste dobivene su križanjem više tipova te ih je danas oko četiri tisuće varijeteta. Tulipan se sastoji od lukovice, stabljike, lišća i cvijeta. Visina mu je 20 cm, neke vrste mogu narasti do 70 cm. Cvjetovi mogu biti jednostruki ili dvostruki, pojavljuju se u raznim bojama i oblicima. Obično na jednoj stabljici raste jedan cvijet, iako neke vrste imaju do četiri cvijeta na jednoj stabljici. Tulipani cvjetaju od travnja do svibnja, postoje vrste sa produženim periodom cvjetanja do lipnja, te one koje cvjetaju i zimi. Njega, uzgoj i održavanje tulipana ne zahtjeva puno truda. Razmnožavanje se vrši diobom lukovica ili sjemenom Pogoduju mu područja s umjerenom klimom te rahla i laka tla. Snažnije vrste tulipana mogu uspijevati godinama, iako se većina koristi kao jednogodišnja biljka.
Abstract (english)
Tulipa L. is a decorative plant from the Liliaceae family. It is distinguished by its great economic, horticultural, aesthetic, ecological and taxonomic interest. The first tulips in Europe came from Asia Minor. Big attention was attract to the Netherland Tulipmania in 1637, which is why the tulip became unofficially the national flower of the Netherland. New species are obtained by crossing several types and today there are about four thousand varieties. The tulip consists of bulbs, stems, leaves and flowers. Its height is only 20 cm, some species can grow to 70 cm. The flowers can be single or double, appear in different colors and shapes. Usually on one stem grows one flower, though some species have up to four flowers on one stem. Tulips flourish from April to May, there are species with an extended flowering period to June, and those that flourish in the winter. Care, cultivation and maintenance of tulips does not require much effort. Reproduction is perform by dividing the bulb or with seed. It is suitable for areas with moderate climate, and easy soil. Stronger types of tulips can thrive for years, though most are used as a one-year plant.
