Abstract
Cilj rada je opisati i pobliže upoznati trčku skvržulju (Perdix perdix L.), te istaknuti njezinu povijesnu, ekonomsku i gospodarsku važnost u Republici Hrvatskoj, posebice na području Slavonije. Trčka skvržulja je naša autohtona poljska koka, koja se prvi puta spominje 1938. godine, kada je na lokalitetu Vučedol, pokraj Vukovara, pronađena keramička posuda u obliku ptice. Isto tako, potrebno je upozoriti na problematiku gospodarenja ovom izrazito plemenitom i korisnom divljači, čija je populacija tijekom zadnjih desetljeća u značajnom padu. Glavni razlozi pada populacije trčki su: nepravilno gospodarenje, nedovoljan broj i uništavanje njihovih prirodnih staništa, bolesti i veliki broj prirodnih neprijatelja. Zahvaljujući velikom broju novih mjera gospodarenja, brojno stanje populacije trčki, tijekom posljednjih godina, je u blagom porastu. Stoga u cilju povećanja populacije trčki, treba nastaviti kontinuirano raditi na poboljšavanju životnih uvjeta unutar staništa i na smanjivanju brojnosti grabežljivih vrsta, jer je samo tako moguće trčku ponovno vratiti i zadržati u lovištima
Abstract (english)
The aim of this work is to describe and familiarize more closely with the Grey partridge (Perdix perdix L.), and to highlight its historical and economic importance in the Republic of Croatia, particularly in the Slavonia region. The Grey partridge is our autochthonous field bird, first mentioned in the year of 1938, when a ceramic vessel in the form of a bird was discovered in Vučedol, near Vukovar. Likewise, it is necessary to warn about management issues of this extremely noble and useful game, whose population has declined significantly over the last decades. The main reasons for the partridges population decline are: improper management, inadequate number and destruction of their natural habitats, diseases and a large number of natural enemies. Thanks to a large number of new management measures, the partridges population over the last few years has been steadily increasing. Therefore in order to increase the population of the partridges, we should continue to work on improving living conditions within habitats and on reducing the number of predatory species, because it is only so possible to return the partridge and keep it in the hunting grounds.
