Abstract
Otrov je kemijska supstanca koja može štetno djelovati na organizam. Do trovanja može doći njegovim gutanjem, udisajem, ubodom ili apsorpcijom kroz kožu. Otrovnost se očituje u dozi konzumacije. Postoji veliki broj biljaka koje posjeduju otrovne kemijske tvari. Trovanje i smrt od strane otrovne biljke su vrlo rijetke, jer u većini slučaja otrovne biljke su gorkog okusa te neće doći do konzumacije biljke u velikoj količini. Najčešći simptomi koji se pojavljuju nakon konzumacije otrovne biljke su proljev, povraćanje, oštećenje živčanog sustava te u ozbiljnim situacijama respiratorni i srčani distres. Simptomi koji se javljaju nakon udisaja su najčešće simptomi slični peludnoj groznici ili astmi. Kontaktnim trovanjem javljaju se simptomi kao što su otekline, osip i mjehur. Za uzgoj otrovnih biljaka potrebno je poznavati koji su dijelovi biljke otrovni, da li postoji opasnost od trovanja, postoji li lijek te potrebno je odrediti sigurno mjesto za sadnju biljke. Određene otrovne biljne vrste imaju zanimljivu paletu boja, koja ujedno ukazuje na upozorenje. Neke otrovne biljke posjeduju žarke boje koje su privlačne djeci i životinjama. Zbog toga, potrebno je biljku posaditi na mjesta koja neće biti dostupna djeci i životinjama.
Abstract (english)
A poison is a chemical substance that can have a detrimental effect on the body. Poisoning can occur by swallowing, inhaling, stabbing or absorbing through the skin. Toxicity is manifested in the dose of consumption. There are many plants that possess toxic chemicals. Poisoning and death by poisonous plant are very rare, because in most cases poisonous plant have bitter taste and therefore will not be consumed in large quantities. The most common symptoms that occur after consuming a poisonous plant are diarrhea, vomiting, damage to nervous system, and in severe situations, respiratory and cardiac distress. Symptoms that occur after inhalation are most often symptoms similar to hay fever or asthma. Contact poisoning cause symptomy such as swelling, rash and blistering. For the cultivation of poisonous plants, it is necessary to know which parts of the plant are poisonous, whether there is a danger of poisoning or if there is a cure of poisoning, it is necessary to determine a safe place for planting. Certain poisonous plant species have an interesting color palette, which also indicates a warning. Some poisonous plant have bright colors that are attractive to children and animals. Therefore, it is necessary to plant the plants in places that will not be accessible to children and animals.
