Through literature review the role and the importance of stubble crops has been established as well as its influence on the environment and the properties of the soil. Every stubble culture has its importance and with the right choice of a culture properties of the soil can be significantly improved. Through the adoption of nitrogen and other mineral elements the soil is being enriched and washing off of these elements into the deeper layers of soil and the contamination of groundwater is being prevented. In addition to that the soil is being protected from negative influences of wind and water. The properties of the soil are being improved, the pest is being controlled and various diseases that would have a negative influence on the yield of main crops are being prevented. Through the usage of green manure the usage of mineral manure is being reduced which brings benefits to the preservation of the environment. Moreover, through the usage of green manure the application of chemicals is being significantly reduced. In spite of the benefits of usage of green manure, it has not been used enough in this region and there is still a lot of room for improvements. Through the introduction of new fields in the agriculture and the increase in customer awareness, eco-friendly production is becoming more popular in Croatia and with that stubble crops are begging to play a more important role in agriculture.
