Abstract
Intenzivan uzgoj uz prekomjernu upotrebu agrokemikalija moţe dovesti do degradacije prirodnih resursa, imati štetne učinke na okoliš te moţe ugroziti zdravlje ljudi i ţivotinja, kao i sigurnost i kvalitetu hrane. Odrţiva poljoprivreda nastoji njegovati zdrave ekosustave i poticati odrţivo gospodarenje tlom i vodom, osiguravajući istovremeno globalnu sigurnost hrane. Otpad predstavlja jedan od ključnih problema moderne civilizacije te je pravilno gospodarenje otpadom ključno u odrţivom razvoju društva. Recikliranjem organskog otpada procesom kompostiranja provodi se praksa koja je usklaĎena s odrţivom poljoprivredom te se stoga mora optimizirati i poticati. Finalni proizvod, kompost, ima dvojaku ulogu u tlu: s jedne strane je značajan izvor biljnih hraniva, a s druge izvrstan kondicioner tla. Odrţiva poljoprivreda i upotreba komposta u poljoprivredi mogu se smatrati ključnim aktivnostima odrţivog razvoja društva.
Abstract (english)
Intensive farming with the overuse of agrochemicals can lead to degradation of natural resources, have adverse effects on the environment and can endanger human and animal health as well as food safety and quality. Sustainable agriculture seeks to nurture healthy ecosystems and promote sustainable soil and water management while ensuring global food security. Waste is one of the key problems of modern civilization and proper waste management is crucial in the sustainable development of society. The recycling of organic waste through the composting process leads to practices that are aligned with sustainable agriculture and therefore need to be optimized and encouraged. The final product, compost, has a dual role in the soil: on the one hand it is a significant source of plant nutrients and on the other is an excellent soil conditioner. Sustainable agriculture and the use of compost in agriculture can be considered as key activities for the sustainable development of society.
