Abstract
Organska tvar je ključni dio zdravog plodnog tla, te njezino smanjenje je indikator smanjenja kvalitete većine tala. Organska tvar u tlu potiče poboljšanu strukturu tla, biološku aktivnost i povećanu sposobnost zadržavanja i oslobađanja hranjivih tvari i vode u tlu. Živi organizmi pospješuju razgradnju organske tvari tla, otpuštaju hranjive tvari u biljku, stvaraju pore koje dovode do poboljšane strukture tla i stabiliziraju tla. Organska tvar ima značajnu važnost u fizičkim, kemijskim i biološkim funkcijama tla te je neophodan alat za procjenu razine degradacije. Razumijevanje važnosti organske tvari u tlu i održivo korištenje zemljišta može pomoći u smanjenju utjecaja poljoprivrede proizvodnje, sprečavajući degradaciju tla i eroziju te gubitak zemljišta zbog dezertifikacije. Zdravlje tla bi trebalo biti primarna briga svakog poljoprivrednika i globalne zajednice.
Abstract (english)
Organic matter is a key part of healthy fertile soil, and its decrease is an indicator of the decrease in quality of most soils. Organic matter in the soil promotes improved soil structure, biological activity and increased ability to retain and release nutrients and water in the soil. Living organisms promote the breakdown of soil organic matter, release nutrients to the plant, create pores that lead to improved soil structure, and stabilize soils. Organic matter has a significant importance in the physical, chemical and biological functions of the soil and is a necessary tool for assessing the level of degradation. Understanding the importance of soil organic matter and sustainable land use can help reduce the impact of production agriculture, preventing soil degradation and erosion and land loss due to desertification. Soil health should be the primary concern of every farmer and the global community.
