Abstract
Cilj diplomskog rada je upoznati se sa znatiželjom konja kroz stručnu i znanstvenu literaturu te vlastito iskustvo. Kroz literaturu i terensko istraživanje utvrditi mijenja li se znatiželja kroz dob konja, primjenom testa „Novel object test“. Promatrane su tri skupine konja, različite dobi, spola, pasmine i iskustva. Reakcija na nepoznate predmete bila je izraženija kod starijih pripadnika skupine. Mlađe jedinke prve su prilazile predmetu, te su imali najdužu interakciju s predmetom. Primijećen je veći prilazak nepoznatom predmetu koji je sadržavao hranu, te se time zaključuje da konje hranom možemo motivirati da više istražuju i postaju znatiželjniji. Ponovljenim testom se utvrdilo da su konji brže prilazili predmetu, te je interakcija s predmetom bila duža. Time se potvrđuje da se uzastopnim predstavljanjem predmeta ili situacije, konji naviknu na njega, te reagiraju mirnije što je važno u svakodnevnom radu s konjem. Istraživanje je pokazalo da veličina skupine ili krda, nema utjecaj na promjene znatiželje, dok je spol imao utjecaj na način da su muške jedinke bile znatiželjnije od ženskih.
Abstract (english)
The aim of the thesis is to get acquainted with the curiosity of horses through professional and scientific literature and personal experience. Through literature and field research, determine whether curiosity changes through the age of the horse, using the "novel object test". Three groups of horses, of different ages, sexes, breeds and experiences, were observed. The reaction to unknown objects was more pronounced in older members of the group. Younger individuals approached the object first, and had the longest interaction with the object. A greater approach to an unknown object that contained food was observed, and thus it is concluded that with food we can motivate horses to explore more and become more curious. In the repeated test, the horses approached the object faster, and the interaction with the object was longer. This confirms that by repeatedly presenting an object or situation, horses get used to it, react more calmly, which is important for everyday work with horses. The research showed that the size of the group or herd had no influence on the changes in curiosity, while it had an influence in the way that males were more curious than females.
