Abstract
Navodnjavanje je korišteno više od 6.000 godina u raznim dijelovima svijeta. Od izuzetne je važnosti za dobrobit svjetske populacije gdje igra veliku ulogu na lokalnoj, nacionalnoj razini te gospodarstvu. U završnom radu prikazan je razvoj navodnjavanja od vremena pr. Kr. do modernog doba. Veliku ulogu u razvoju melioracijske struke imali su stari Rimljani koji su bili izvrsni hidrotehničari i čije građevine još i danas mogu vidjeti u Eruopi i Aziji.
Abstract (english)
Irrigation has been practised for more than 6.000 years in various parts of the world to feed an ever-growing population. Irrigation is vital to the wellbeing of the people in this world and plays a significant role in local, national and international growth and development. This paper gives review of irrigation development thru history, from time B.C. to modern age. Special attention is given to Roman Empire because of the significant impact of Romans to hydrotechnique. Some of the remains (aqueduct) could be seen in Europe as well as in Asia.
