This thesis describes the three types of litter in the stables with the resting box. Litter under research were composting litter, litter made of clay and reeds, sand floor and synthetic floor. The research was conducted in order to get the conclusions and results of use of this litter in different climatic conditions, as well as their impact on reducing disease, increasing production and reducing overhaul of herds. It was found that a stable with composting resting boxes has the greatest chance of survival in the maritime climate, while in continental climates, it is somewhat worse due to the low average temperature during the cooler periods of the year. In the stables, where the litter was replaced with sand, upper layers remained dry. However, the sand had a great ammonia emissions which is why it is not often practiced . Litter of dry clay and reed has proved to be a good foundation, but more often it was necessary to change the top layer, which rapidly acquires fluidity. This in turn eventually increases the emission of ammonia and undermines hygienic conditions. The best results were obtained with composting litter regardless of climate. It provides a satisfactory hygienic conditions because of all the studied litter it stays dry for the longest period. The possibility of using the litter in livestock production is certainly interesting to manufacturers who produce their own food for their farms.
