The aim of this paper is to assess the adequacy of the soil for ecological agricultural production on the basis of its agrochemical properties as well as ascertaining the necessary measures of repairing (conditioning) and fertilizing the soil. The most important agrochemical properties for assessing the adequacy of soil for ecological agricultural production are the pH reaction of the soil, the amount of humus, the availability of phosphorus and potassium as well as the availability of microelements, and the total heavy metal content. The availability of phosphorus and potassium are determined using the ammonium lactate method, the availability of microelements using the EDTA method, and the total heavy metal content by extracting the soil using aqua regia. The assessed soil has mediocre mineralization potential, is poorly supplied with available phosphorus, moderately with available potassium and poorly with available zinc and manganese. According to the total heavy metal content, the evaluated soil is adequate for ecological agricultural production. The basic properties of the soil (the availability of phosphorus and microelements in particular) are to be enhanced using measures of humization through the regular application of organic fertilizers. Besides increasing the potential of mineralization and gradually acidifying the soil, organic fertilization will increase the availability of phosphorus and microelements. It is advantageous to use compost, green manure and organic fertilizers with increased phosphorus content (poultry litter, pig slurry component, bone, horn, and hoof meal). Additional analyses are needed to assess the eventual need and profitability of acidifying the soil using soil sulfur with the aim of increasing the availability of phosphorus and microelements.
