This thesis is about the use of TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) method and tensiometer method for measuring of soil water content for making a decison when to irrigate. The devices were calibrated for soil at a trial field and the measured values are compared. The research was set up at a trial field of Agricultural institute in Osijek during 2017 (45o32'S and 18o44'I, 90 AMSL). Devices used for measuring water soil content were set up in experimental plots in which peas plants are planted. There were no treatments of irrigation in this research, so the dynamic of water content in soil was measured as a result of amount and distributiom of rainfall or as a result of groundwater influence. Comparatively with measuring the soil water content with tensiometers and TDR device, the soil was sampled for gravimetric method from depths in which soil humidity was measured. In average the tensiometer readings on 30 cm depth was 36 cbar while on 45 cm depth the average reading was 31,6 cbar. On 30 cm tensiometer readings ranged from 18 do 55 cbar while on 45 cm tensiometer readings ranged from 12 to 60 cbar. As for TDR the readings ranged from 10 to 36,6 vol. % on 10 cm depth while on 30 cm readings ranged from 13,2 to 48,8 vol. %. In average both sensors for measuring soil water content have registered the changes in soil moisture. According to results in mainly part of the research period the soil water content was very low and there was a need to compensate the lack of water with irrigation. A strong negative correlation relationship was determined between tensiometer and current soil moisture ( r = - 0.8*), and a strong positive correlation relationship between TDR readings and current soil moisture (r = 0.8*).
